where does your mind take you?

When you become a witness of your acts, everything seems so fragile and ambiguous. Ends and beginnings disappear in a way because we realize we do things haphazardly. Who knows where am I in my head when I am pouring a cup of tea? Who knows where your mind takes you when you are folding the laundry?

We let our thoughts conquer us almost every time on action. It occurs as a habit as if this is the way it is supposed to be. I disagree. The more we get away from the moment and the thing we are working on, the more we get removed from our lives. Our mind loves to ramble through our ever-present past and supposedly momentous decisions of the future. So, we all already have a vast ocean full of thoughts and assumptions in our heads.

Isn’t it so easy to drown there within seconds? Isn’t it so perpetual to get lost in there? But we can prevent this. We can try to see and do things as they are. We can stop relying on our presumptions of which the only source is our unreliable minds.

There is a way to stop fighting against the waves and be still in the water: meditation. Simply sitting with your thoughts and observing them as a witness will bit by bit lift you to the surface. It is honestly easier than it sounds. Meditating on your thoughts will provide you with the space you need to contemplate.

Even it is only for 5 minutes, you will see what is going on in your head - surprisingly without your consent. Just sit and you will notice how crazy it can get, from one thought to another fear, from one memory to another plan. You will teach your brain to be calm and present so it won’t rush to tomorrow’s anxiety or yesterday’s grieve. You will merely be folding your laundry. That’s all.
