implanted idea of missing the life
I thanked the ordinariness of life today. I thanked this simplicity of sitting quietly, having a healthy breakfast, shopping for dinner and listening to the birds chirping. I thanked that lovely ceremony of seeing a friend at the exact same hour of my evening walk. These are small but beautiful details in our lives. I am, as a 24 year old young adult, teaching myself to enjoy these little incidents happening every day. They are extremely easy if you are open and willing to catch.
Being thankful is a highly substantial feeling that it can change your whole way of living and seeing things. Before exploring my head, I was always coming back to the surface to breathe, yet now with the assistance and inside guidance of tasting what gratitude is, I have created my own gills. How?
Think. Take a breath and think. When was the last time you were grateful for something? If it takes too long to find, then remember the last time you enjoyed being with someone. Remember the last time you ate your favourite food. Remember the last time you laughed, you went to a concert or you read a book. All those beautiful moments. Even seeing the sun every day! We just don't know the value of these moments. We spend every minute by being angry or upset with ourselves. We are implanted with the idea of missing the life which eventually causes us to miss these details. But this is life! Breathing and enjoying.
I know it sometimes gets more difficult to grasp things that way, especially if you are busy with something you dislike. This might be your job, your school, or even some people. However, always remind yourself this: you have chosen what you are living now. Directly or indirectly, you are in charge. Take the wheel and drive it wherever you want. So far, you have thought you woke up the same day each morning. You havu ignored the difference between the seconds. You have assumed that the streets are the same and you drink the same coffee with yesterday.
Take a breath and think. What is the simplest thing that can make you feel grateful? Hugging someone? Petting your cat? Watching your favourite show? List the first three things coming to your mind and next time catch them. Catch your own gratitude. You do not have to tell anyone. Just try and don't be shy.
