dedicate - day 12

Have you ever thought about being the curator of your own life? Have you ever thought your life as a museum of experiences and memories? If no, the time has arrived. Today’s practice presents you the opportunity of curating. Curating your own time on the mat, just to be able to do the same off the mat. It is just a reminder to take the control of the wheel.

If your hips are not flexible enough, well, do a variation of pigeon pose then, says Adriene. You’re the curator here. Just lie down on your mat instead of forcing your legs to open. If you choose to do the opposite under same circumstances, then explore that you love challenges! Think about that parallelism between on and off the mat. How you move is everything, she says all the time. Here comes a good example: One time I realised that I was moving so quickly to finish the practice as soon as possible because I had so much work to do after. Then I thought that throughout all day I did the same already! I ran to catch the train, I had my lunch quickly just to have more time to spend, and I climbed the stairs in a rush, threw myself on the mat and continued to do the same during my practice. It wasn’t true. I was doing yoga to purify my existence, to relax my body and to glorify and tranquilise my mind which was dragging from one decision to another and which was in a brown study.

My point here is don’t forget that you are the only responsible of your own actions. Evaluate your choices. Cherish your thoughts. Realise. Contemplate. Do it on the mat, apply in your life. How ravishing it is that your mat can become a miniature of your personality and life. It does not limit you but on the contrary it allows you to reach beyond your wisdom if you are open to learn and expand your vision. So, choose the best for you. “To thine own self be true.”
