day 34 - I did pranayama practice and ate boiled potatoes - knocked the migraine out!
Come friends! I’m listing today's
yoga ingredients:
1 child's pose
1 downward facing dog
1 meditation pose
+ Lots of pranayama exercise
Have you
ever had migraine during work/school hours? I hope you haven’t. Today was even
worse than my menstrual period (I only cry because of pain and wait to die on
the first two days of my period btw). My headache started at 10 in the morning. I
couldn’t even walk to my lunch place in the afternoon. Every head movement was causing me endless
pain and I had to work (that means I had to read and translate something on the
computer) At the end of the day, when I was able to come home eventually I
directly went to my bed. I didn’t think about doing yoga. I only wanted to get
rid of this pain by a good sleep HOWEVER it prevented me to do so. I couldn’t
sleep because of my fucking migraine. Then my stomach became problematic because
of sickness. I was just lying down on my bed and trying to sleep until I
remembered pranayama practice! I didn’t do anything specially. I didn’t even
use my yoga mat today.
Pranayama practice
allowed me to breathe more easily and breathing more easily allowed my body to function
more properly. I felt like my brain hadn’t had the enough oxygen till that
after time of pranayama. In child pose I put my forehead on the mat and slowly
turned my head right and left. A firm ground always works for any pain I
believe. I have had mentioned the benefits of pranayama on the 19th
day.
Think about
it just for minute. Your breath is the most essential thing for your body. If
you do not breathe thoroughly, how can you expect your body to perform superbly?
You cannot! More importantly I am learning to breathe via my diaphragm not my
lungs. It is one of the best thing you can provide for your internal organs.
During the day, anywhere, you may try it by only sitting. Just sit and try to
breathe until your stomach is full of breath. 2nd step, exhale
deeply as if your soul will run away through your mouth.
With
pranayama and diaphragm breaths I cured my headache. Many people will not
believe me I KNOW – but I don’t care because I did. (My proof is being able to
write this blog post because 2 hours ago, before the practice, I couldn’t move
and bare the light) For my stomach I ate boiled potatoes though… It’s not yoga
you think, right? I guess everything you do for you is yoga, on or off the mat.
Namaste.
